SERVICE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND AOLESCENTS (SEEVCA)

WHERE: Zambia
FUNDING PARTNER: USAID
2018-2019
WHAT: Introduced in 2017 by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS), the SEEVCA initiative aimed to demonstrate the significance of integrating social protection programmes, particularly social cash transfers (SCT), with case management. The primary goal was to enhance accessibility to services for households responsible for highly VCAs. Our focus under SEEVCA was to build community institutions’ capacity to ensure that children live in a stable, protective, nurturing environment. Thereby, supporting the many thousands of children left vulnerable because of a parent’s HIV infection or, worse, orphaned by AIDS. A2HealthZ also helped broaden social protection endeavours, with a specific focus on the SCT programme. The expansion served as a robust foundation for extending additional support to VCAs. The SCT programme still plays a crucial role in mitigating vulnerability and broadening protection for the most marginalized individuals in Zambia.
